Why I don't Facebook

Most of you know, that I DO NOT like Facebook. I had an account, I tried it for a while, and just didn't like it. I found these cartoons of "Cathy" that helped sum up how I felt:

I just felt that those people who wanted to get in touch with me, will be able to find me by other means. Those who I want to stay in touch with, most of them know my blog. And everybody else doesn't need to read what I am saying to everybody else. So all of you who have "friended" me on Facebook. Don't feel bad that I didn't respond. I just don't like Facebook. In fact I have closed my account.

So, welcome to my blog, those who want to stay in touch. There is a reason my blog is not private. Those who want to find my blog, through links on blogs of people we know, welcome. I do not have my blog searchable, so you can't find me on google. And you know what? This works for me. So suck it Facebook!

The first time Dave and I tried facebook we realized that all we were doing were searching for past boyfriends/girlfriends to see what they were doing. So we didn't get into it until almost a year later. Then he got in touch with some people from his mission that he really wanted to be in touch with and didn't have any contact info. There are people who I really like hearing about - like my best friend from college whose husband got accepted into med school. I really want to know, and its easy that way. So, I facebook. But I definitely relate to those "cathy" cartoons. I feel that way a lot.

I hate Facebook too. I think it steals your soul. I have an account, but only because all my siblings are on it. When I first got on facebook I went through to see all my high school friends. It got depressing. Many looked like they'd had really hard lives. I have my account set so no one can ask me to be their friend. It's for my siblings only. I wish they'd use blogspot. Facebook shows me what video games my family plays. (Nothing like knowing your brother spends hours killing people on a mafia game.) Facebook stinks. I may close it soon.
