Jareds Birthday and other pictures

Jared's Birthday was yesterday, but we celebrate a Birthday weekend.  So his birthday started Friday night when he got home from work.  We decided to watch a movie on the air mattress

And I gave him his first present.  He has had this yellow blanket he carries around like Linus.  His mom made it when she was 18, and somehow Jared inherited it.  Now, I am sure that when the blanket was made it was a beautiful, and pristine, but after 30ish years, it had started looking a little worn (understatement of the century).  But he would'nt get rid of it.  He loved it too much.  He always told me I couldn't get rid of it unless I found a blanket to replace it.  So I made him one.

We also made brownies (instead of a cake) for him.  Xander LOVED sticking candles in the cake.

Xander thought it was soooo cool that we were able to light the candles on fire.

He got really mad at his Dad after he blew them all out.  This was the face he made.  Can't you just tell he was upset.

Then for the second part of Jared's gift.  I took his ragged yellow blanket, and cut off the holes, and fringe, and any other worn part, and sewed it up into a brand new blanket.  It is about half the size it was before, but it is still a nice blanket.

On Jared's birthday my nephew (Leisa's son) Cole Steven Hardman was born.  Here are some pictures I stole off Leisa's blog (since I haven't been up to see him yet).  Jared is CONVINCED that since 1/3 of his nephews were born on his birthday that the world REALLY does revolve around him....

Then last, but not least, Xander LOVES to play the Wii, he knows how to turn it on, select the game, and maneuver through the menus to select all the options he wants, and then play.  The other day he decided to play Wii Boxing.  It was so funny I had to take a video.

That is all.

I love that you not only made Jared a new blanket but that you salvaged his old one that was so near and dear to his heart! You are the best wife ever! Love the pictures and the cute video!

Wow, so much to comment on, where do I start? I LOVE what you did with the blanket my mom made. So clever. Also, Xander's face with the candles blown out is adorable. My kids usually try and blow them out themselves before we get the chance.

Oh, and I love the video of Xander and Congrats to Leisa.

In this post Xander is about 2 1/2? I am a very anti-Wii person, but I am not opposed to buying one for family fun and Evie. I was thinking about age 4 or 5. How is Xander doing with it? What do you think a good age is to start? She loves watching me play PS3 games, and I let her play with the aquarium with the eyetoy, and she plays the duck game.

Your input and thoughts?

No you can't change my mind on the Wii, it is a toy, and will only remain a toy. If I buy one it will be with that in mind.
