My Trip to the Grand Opening of IKEA (and two pictures of Xander)

Well, for anyone who has remotely kept up to date with my blog knows that yesterday was the Grand Opening for my favorite store in the ENTIRE world, IKEA. So I dragged my sisters Leisa, and Chelsea, and my cousin Jody to go to it. We met at 4:00 am at the Target just off of Antelope Drive (had to wake up at 3:00 to get ready and get there on time) and headed down to Draper in Jody's fiance's truck. Here are the pictures of our adventure:

Here is Chelsea and Jody in line at 4:45 in the morning (when we arrived and got in line):

And here is me and Leisa.
I brought doughnuts for us all to eat, here is Leisa with powder all over her lips.
Here I am with my two sisters trying to sleep on my lap.
Here we are once the sun came out. We got a bunch of cool free stuff for waiting in line (frisbee's, mini screwdriver sets, a compass, rubber duckies and water bottles, oh, and swedish flower seeds to plant). This picture is of Leisa, Chelsea and Jody with their ducks on their heads in front of the IKEA sign.

And here is me (don't ask about the funny face I am pulling because I don't know what it is).
This is a picture of all the people in front of us in line (about 200, most of whom camped out) And here are the people behind us in line (about 2,000)Here is the real shots of us waiting in line, pretty boring most of the time. We had to keep a sharp eye out for cutters though. We had so many people push through the line saying they were looking for a friend, and then just stop in front of us. Don't worry, we got security though. If they wanted further up in the line, they should have dragged their lazy bums out of bed at 3:00 am like we did....
Once we got into IKEA we looked around. It was a MAD HOUSE. Here are Chelsea and I trying out a sleeper sofa I debated buying (I didn't buy it in the end though.)

Here are Leisa, Chelsea, and Jody in line to check out (it took us 45 minutes to make it through the line).
Here are me, Chelsea, and Leisa in line to check out.
After our IKEA run, we were all famished. So we went to Red Robin for lunch. Here is Jody and Leisa.
Here is Chelsea (yummy! A Teriyaki Chicken burger....)
Here is a small sampling of what I bought at IKEA (so far all I have put up is the stuff in Xanders room, so that is what you get pictures of). I really want to do Xander's room in an undersea Nemo type theme. Here is a picture of his bedspread so you get the idea of what color scheme I am going to go with. I am going to paint the walls the two shades of teal blue that are shown on the bedspread. Then, I found the AWESOME green plastic "drape" stuff, that matched perfectly. So I bought it to make it look like "seaweed" as a cover to a "cave" that I am going to paint in his closet. Then I took the green drape stuff and put it where he closet doors used to be (NOTE: the hanging devices are made to release when pressure is added (i.e. if Xander were to become tangled in the strands). Man IKEA really does think of everything). Here are pictures (NOTE: I haven't painted the room yet, but I will, and it will look AWESOME). Oh, and I found a bright orange seahorse lamp for the wall.

Xander LOVES his new play area (his closet)

Again, if you picture the walls the two shades of teal like on the bedspread, then picture the cave the darker blue (in the closet), it looks GREAT. In the meantime though, it is still all white (but his room is next to be painted. Maybe this weekend....)

OK, as per the title of my blog, here are two random pictures of Xander. He LOVES "working" on my computer. He thinks he is working just like Mom and Dad do. So, here are the pictures of that.

Well, those are my adventures at IKEA. I will post more pictures as I get more of my IKEA purchases hung up, and in place.

P.S. my window coverings came today. HOORAY. So I am busy putting those up as well. But they forgot to ship my blinds for my sliding glass door. Sigh. So I am working with their Customer Support on that. Hopefully we will get those soon.
