My Project

Jared has the next few days on call (meaning he has doesn't have to go to work, but he needs to be available in case a major bug is found).  Since we can't go anywhere I told Jared I wanted a project to work on.  So I decided I wanted to go to D.I. (the local thrift store) and find some night stands for our room.  I found two matching night stands and a small dresser for $35.  So I bought them.  Now they need MASSIVELY sanded down, then patched and painted.  But I LOVE the basic shape, and I especially love the unique handles.  So, if I don't post much in the next week or so, this is why.  Here are the before pictures:

This nightstand is attached to the small chest.  I have already taken them apart so they are two separate chests.

This shows all three pieces.  The two will be nightstands, and the third piece will sit at the end of our bed.

This shows how damaged the veneer is, but I've already got it sanded down, and the holes patched (the first coat), and the basic frame is still pretty good.

Anyhow, here's to awesome new furniture!  I'll post the after pictures in a week or so when I get it all done.
